Leadership Forum

Ms. Kayvalyn Lowajinankul, a third-year MUIC student who is majoring in Biological Sciences, was selected as one of five students who will represent Thailand at the 9th Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative. The dates and venue for the forum have yet to be decided.

Grand Opening

The college hosted a Grand Opening for the newly-established Academic Service Center (ASC) in Hat Yai on January 24. Director Chariya Brockelman and representative members from the MUIC community traveled to Hat Yai for the occasion.
The ASC, under the leadership of Program Director Sanhapong Khovong, will enable students in the area to apply to MUIC, submit their documents, take the entrance examination and sit for an interview; they can also enroll in the center's Intensive English Program in preparing for the entrance exam.

Film Festival

The Foreign Languages Program sponsored the annual French Film Festival on January 21-24 in the MUIC auditorium. The festival, which was coordinated by Ajarn Bruno Mahon, featured four films: A bout de souffle (Breathless), Diva, the animated film Kirikou et la sorciere (Kirikou and the sorceress) and La ceremonie (Maid to order).

Bicycle Adventure

Last trimester Ajarn Laird Allan introduced the MUIC Bicycle Adventure, a new activity for the college’s inbound international students. The 2nd bike tour was conducted on January 18, with 18 cyclists participating. They explored little known byways around the Salaya area, covering a total of 46 kilometers. The outing provided an opportunity for the bikers to test their physical fitness and enjoy the rural sights in the surrounding area.

Research Seminar

The Office of Planning, Research and Development conducted its “2nd Research for MUIC Development” Seminar on January 18 in the Seminar Room. Its purpose is to continue to support research at MUIC and to exchange ideas for collaborative research and knowledge sharing. Designated members of the faculty and supporting staff presented their current research projects.

Freshman Seminar

The Office of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Student Association and the sophomore class, hosted two events in January, both of which are requirements for the Freshman Seminar. On January 18 the Student Association held the regular trimester Club Expo, which introduced new students to MUIC’s various clubs and their activities.
On the weekend of January 26-27, these new students participated in the Welcoming Camp at Baan Phu Waan, the Pastoral Training Center of Bangkok’s Catholic Archdiocese. The two-day session focused on social interaction among the newly-arrived freshmen and students from the upper classes.
