Study Abroad Fair

The Office of International Relations organized a Study Abroad Fair in the Seminar Room on October 15. A number of overseas universities from Europe, the United States and Australia promoted their undergraduate and graduate program. Three educational agencies from Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom were also represented.
A more expansive study abroad exhibition, which will be held on the ground floor of Building 1, is scheduled for January 31, 2008.

Alumni Get-together

The MUIC Alumni Association, under the leadership of Ajarn Michael Naglis, hosted a get-together on October 13, at the club, Gazebo, on Khaosan Road. Approximately 100 alumni attended the event. The evening, which included refreshments and live music, was essentially a social affair. Forty-one of the guests signed up as members, bringing the Association’s total membership to 227.

Freshman Seminar

After having participated in the orientation session at the beginning of this academic year, the new group of incoming students took part in several other events in order to fulfill the requirements of the Freshman Seminar.
Club Expo
The MUIC Student Association conducted its regular trimester Club Expo on the ground floor of Building on September 28. New students were introduced to the college’s 13 clubs and were afforded the opportunity to sign up for activities of their choice.
Wai Kru
On Thursday, October 4, MUIC held the annual Wai Kru Ceremony, presided over by Professor Chariya Brockelman, Director of MUIC, and Associate Professor Passiri Nisalak, Mahidol University Vice President for Coordination and University Council Secretary. This tradition honors teachers and promotes a more meaningful student-teacher relationship.
After student representatives paid their respects by offering traditional Thai floral arrangements, certificates were presented to students who achieved academic excellence, scholarship recipients and members of the Student Association for their contributions to the college.
Welcoming Unity Camp
On the weekend of October 6-7, new students attended the Welcoming Unity Camp at Baan Phu Waan, the Pastoral Training Center of Bangkok’s Catholic Archdiocese. The purpose of the weekend was to introduce participants to the social dimensions of the college and to provide an opportunity for interaction with other MUIC students.

The Business Administration (BBA) Division has announced two new majors for this academic year. A new undergraduate major, Business Economics, is now available for MUIC students, with Dr. Yingyot Chiaravutthi serving as Director.
The BBA Division is also introducing an MBA in Business Modeling and Analysis, covering the qualitative and quantitative aspects of business and their applications along with an exploration of ethics, sustainability and corporate responsibility.
Assistant Professor Dr. Sarayut Nathaphan will serve as Director of this MBA Program which will begin in January, 2008, at a yet-to-be determined location in Bangkok. For further information, log on to www.bba-muic.net
