Alumni Achievement

Mr. Pratheep Khanthapura graduated in 2007 and has been serving as a part-time lab technician at MUIC since last September. He has been admitted into the PhD Program in Chemistry at the University of Maryland. Based on his qualifications and prospects for success, the university also offered him a teaching and research assistantship, free tuition and health insurance benefits. Mr. Pratheep will begin his postgraduate studies in August.
Chanin Nantasenamat (02) has been teaching at Mahidol University’s Department of Clinical Biology, Faculty of Medical Technology, for the past two years and is a part-time lecturer at MUIC. Dr. Chanin was recently declared the Distinguished Thesis Award Winner on the doctoral level for his thesis, “Computer-Aided Molecular Design for Biological and Chemical Applications: Quantum Chemical and Machine Learning Approach.”

Exchange Agreements in Spain and Hongkong

MUIC Director Chariya Brockelman traveled to Spain in April to deliver a presentation on multiculturalism at the 4th International Barcelona Conference on Higher Education. After the conference she visited ETEA-Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences (Institucion Universitaria de la Compania de Jesus) in Cordoba, where she finalized a formal exchange agreement.
The college also signed an exchange agreement with the Chinese University of Hong Kong. With these two additions, MUIC now enjoys exchange agreements with 39 educational institutes around the world.

Student Achievements

Ms. Sikharin Langkulsen, a student in the Entertainment Media Program, was named the winner of the Sixth True Visions-BBC World Future Journalist Award 2007-08, besting candidates from 20 other universities. She will attend a three-week intensive training course at the BBC headquarters in London this June.
Mr. Tanis Suwannakul, a Computer Science major, was one of five Thai students who were awarded scholarships from the 2008 International College Student Exchange Program between Korea and ASEAN nations. Mr. Tanis, who is the first Mahidol student to be awarded this scholarship, will study at Daejeon University for one academic year.
