Annual Club Day

Annual Club DayThe MUIC Student Association hosted its annual Club Day on June 26 at a special dinner at the Salaya Pavilion Hotel. The clubs were cited for their contributions over the past academic year, with the Volunteer Club being selected once again as the best of the clubs. The occasion also served as an opportunity to introduce the newly-elected leadership team of the Student Association, which will assume its responsibilities at the beginning of the next academic year.

One-Day Excursion

Ten members of the Student Association visited the Baan Klong Sawang Arom School on June 24, 2008. They donated school supplies and engaged the children in educational games and English learning sessions. The MUIC students were accompanied by 13 students from the Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry who performed oral checkups.

Australian Study Abroad Fair

 Australian Study Abroad FairThe Office of International Network Development conducted its first Australian Universities Study Abroad Fair on June 17 in the Seminar Room. The Australian Education International Agency held a seminar on “Studying in Australia,” after which MUIC students took the opportunity to learn about the undergraduate and graduate programs at 11 Australian universities.

The MUIC Music Club sponsored its annual Band Competition on June 19 in the college auditorium. Approximately 70 student musicians, representing 16 bands, participated in the event. The winning band was The Story, which received a 3,000
Baht first prize.

MUIC Unity Camp

MUIC Unity Camp
Another group of 42 MUIC faculty as well as executive and supporting staff members participated in the 2nd MUIC Faculty and Staff Unity Camp in Chantaburi on the weekend of June 13-14. The participants once again engaged in sessions that pro-moted the consolidation of interpersonal relationships, along with communication and team-building skills.

Drama Club Production

The Drama Club mounted a production, “Sax and Violin,” on June 10-12 in the MUIC auditorium. The production, consisting of a series of humorous vignettes, was directed by M A Richard, a visiting graduating student from Hawaii who is auditing Social Science courses at the college.

The MUIC Student Association (SA) conducted elections on June 11-12. The leadership team, which will assume responsibilities at the beginning of the next academic year, consists of Mr. Tananun Saranak, President, Mr. Sanchai Waleecharoengpong, External Vice President, Ms. Kayvalyn Lowajinankul, Internal Vice President, Ms. Nalin Sangpatson, Secretary, and Ms. Chayada Patchakapati, Treasurer.

Announcement: Study Abroad Fair

The MUIC Office of International Network Development will be organizing the Australian Universities Study Abroad Fair on June 17 in the Seminar Room (1210) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In addition, in order to promote the fair, the Australian Education International agency will conduct a seminar on "Studying in Australia" before the formal opening.

Everyone is invited to attend.

Fund Drive

Fund DriveThe MUIC Fund Drive for the Cyclone and Earthquake Victims in Burma and China raised 80,000 Baht. Dr. Chariya Brockelman, Director of MUIC, personally delivered the money to the Thai Red Cross Society on the morning of June 10.

Ajarn Ignatius Tan, who initiated this project, extended his thanks to the MUIC community, particularly the Office of Student Affairs, the Student Association as well as the Volunteer and Multicultural Clubs.

Training Programs

Training ProgramsThe Academic Activities Department (AAD) is currently engaged in two separate training sessions, one short term and the other long term.

In collaboration with the Travel Industry Management Division and the Thai Hotel Association, the AAD is sponsoring a training program for hotel executives which is being conducted at the Narai Hotel every Saturday and Sunday from June 1 to 29.

In cooperation with MUIC’s MBA Program in Business Modeling and Analysis, the AAD has organized a “Mini MBA Program in Retail Management” for executives of Big C Supercenter Plc. The training sessions, which began on June 2 and are being held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at the Big C Learning Center, Univest Building in Bangkok, will continue until October 30, 2008.

SIFE Exhibition

SIFE ExhibitionThe MUIC student chapter of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), a global non-profit organization that works in partnership with business and higher education, sponsored an exhibition, "Banglen Banana," on June 4 on the ground floor of Building 1. The event, under the direction of Advisor Chairawee Anamthawat, featured the making of interesting products from dried banana leaves by two ajarns from Pattani Technical College and women from the Banglen-Narapirom community. Participants had an opportunity to buy T-shirts that were designed by the SIFE students in order to raise funds for this project.

MM Open House

MM Open House
The Master of Management (MM) Program in Tourism and Hospitality Management held an Open House on Saturday, May 31, at the Salaya Pavilion Hotel and Training Centert, in an effort to promote this new postgraduate offering. While the event was open to members of the MUIC community and the general public, the focus was on prospective students interested in the program.
