As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, the college hosted a symposium, ”MUIC: Past, Present and Future”, on May 15 in the auditorium.

Dr. Serene Piboonniyom, former Director of ISDP, provided an overview of the college’s first ten years, including its curriculum, organizational structure, recruitment tactics and overall growth, particularly in terms of faculty and students.

Interim Dean Chariya Brockelman reviewed MUIC’s organizational and academic development over the last ten years, citing in particular the college’s liberal arts component and the strength of its graduates.

Dr. Chaiwat Viboonsawas, a noted academician, addressed MUIC’s future in a globalized world which will require new skills in science, technology, humanities and social science, more independent study and more outbound MUIC students studying abroad.

Participants at the symposium included representatives from MUIC, Mahidol University and other universities who either have international programs or are in the process of establishing them.
