University of North Carolina
Six honor students from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) spent the second trimester at MUIC, taking a variety of elective courses, particularly in Southeast Asian Studies and the Thai language.

Once the trimester was over, the group spent two weeks in Kanchanaburi Province and were accompanied by four of MUIC’s Social Science majors. The UNC students gained first-hand experience of the Thai lifestyle by living with host families. They also attended a series of lectures by MUIC faculty members and had an opportunity to visit the more celebrated tourist sites in the province.

Stephen Austin State University
A contingent of students from Stephen Austin State University, Texas, arrived at MUIC on May 14 for a ten-day educational tour. They were introduced to Mahidol University and MUIC, visiting with faculty members and attending a lecture on Thai architecture and construction techniques.

The group visited the major tourist attractions in Bangkok, after which they traveled to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, where they witnessed development projects, went on elephant rides and visited major tourist sites. They then traveled to the south of Thailand to explore rebuilding efforts that have taken place since the 2004 tsunami disaster.
